The Riesenrad (meaning "giant wheel") is a Ferris wheel at the entrance of the Prater amusement park in Vienna, Austria.
It was one of the earliest Ferris wheels to be built, having been erected in 1897 to celebrate Emperor Franz Josef I's golden Jubilee. The designer was an Englishman, Walter Bassett, which explains why the wheel's diameter is a round number in Imperial units - 200 feet (approximately 61 m).
The Riesenrad is now one of Vienna's most popular tourist attractions, and symbolises the city for many people.
The wheel originally had 30 gondolas, but was severely damaged in the Second World War, and when it was rebuilt, only 15 gondolas were replaced.
The Riesenrad famously appeared in the post-war film noir The Third Man. It is also featured in the 1987 Bond film The Living Daylights, and appears prominently in the 1995 Richard Linklater film Before Sunrise.

How do I get out of here?
A fun place for everyone not just children where you can lose your way or watch everyone else lose theirs from a platform that overlooks the maze. If you reach all the 12 corners tick of the each of the zodiac signs as you go along. In the old days, the Imperial family walked through these winding hedges. Today, the Maze at Schönbrunn provides fun for everybody. If you look, you can find the symbols of all twelve signs of the zodiac. And at last, you
can watch everybody else get lost from a special platform.

The Maze was started between 1698 and 1740. It originally consisted of four different parts with a central, raised pavilion, from which one could overlook the labyrinth. During the nineteenth century, the Maze was cut back, until the last hedge was razed in 1892. Through the use of historic models, the new Maze was created in the fall of 1998 with a total area of 18,640 square feet. forward

Set in the gardens the zoo has three entrances so it's not difficult to find with the usual selection of animals, including tigers, elephants and lions making up the main draw.
